CLINTON -- Winter weather is causing a County office to close and causing warnings about driving in the County in blizzard conditions.
The Clinton County Treasurer's Office in DeWitt will not be open on Thursday. The office in Clinton will be open during normal business hours. All County offices are closed Friday and Monday for the Christmas holiday.
The Clinton County Sheriff's office is encouraging residents to avoid travel between Thursday evening and Saturday morning, especially in rural areas.
Clinton County has been placed under a Blizzard Warning from 6 PM Thursday (12/22/22) through 6 AM Saturday (12/24/22). Travel will become nearly impossible at times due to blowing snow, drifting snow and near zero visibility. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph will create wind chills of up to -40.
Please remember, travel is not recommended during this storm and that Emergency Responders may not be able to travel to some areas.

If you travel on U.S. 30 between Wheatland and Calamus you should be aware of a lane closure that could slow down your trip, according to the Iowa DOT’s Davenport construction office.
Beginning on Monday, Feb. 10, until December 2025, weather permitting, crews will close one lane of U.S. 30 between Clinton County Road Y-4E/130th Ave. near Wheatland, and Clinton County Road Y-44/170th Ave. near Calamus, for the replacement of three bridges over the Wapsipinicon River.

Eighteen (18) Outdoor Warning Sirens in fifteen (15) locations within Clinton County will not be used after 12/31/2024. We encourage residents to utilize Alert Iowa, IPAWS (the Federal Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) and NOAA Weather Radios. As always Clinton County Emergency Management is committed to improving public safety. A program to offer free weather radios to Clinton County residents has begun at outreach events and in conjunction with local libraries.
