Secretary I
Serves as a Secretary I to the Clinton County Attorney. Performs clerical and secretarial tasks requiring attention to detail, computer skills, and the ability to follow direction. The position requires a high level of computer skills, customer service, the ability to learn quickly, good organizational skills, and the ability to take direction then work independently. The Secretary I will lead by example the behaviors and work ethic becoming of Clinton County.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent Clinton County and perform duties in a professional, responsible, and trustworthy manner.
- Maintains a positive working relationship with the Clinton County Attorney and staff, Clinton County staff, other agencies and departments and the general public.
- Ability to type 45 wpm accurately and utilize Microsoft Office suite, general office equipment, learn and maneuver through various office legal software, and answer multi-line telephones.
- Administratively supports the Victim Witness Coordinator program.
- Provides customer service that is courteous and responsive to both staff and departments by email, phone, or in person.
- Able to receive phone calls from a variety of agencies (Federal/State/Local) as well as staff, department heads, and the general public. Must be able to ascertain the issue and document pertinent information in order to relay to the appropriate staff member. Must be able to make phone calls as directed to applicants and set them up for interviews.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to complete work by deadlines, which can change at the last minute and maintain professionalism.
- Must have proficient organizational skills and able to prioritize.
- Performs other duties as assigned to assist other staff members within the office.
- Ability to file paperwork appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements - (Education and Experience):
High School Diploma/GED Required
Advanced Degree is preferred.
Prior office experience is preferred
Prior HR office experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of overall function of the County Attorney’s office, local criminal justice system and county government a plus. Ability to handle confidential information and deal with a variety of persons, some who are in emotionally stressful situations.
