Building Construction Project Manager
Introduction
Clinton County, Iowa, a public governmental entity, is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the role of a part-time Building Construction Project Manager for an upcoming project. The selected individual will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction process, ensuring quality, adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
Project Overview
The project is on the site of the Clinton County Administration Building, 1900 N. 3rd St., Clinton, IA. The project entails opening the outside curtain wall of the building to upgrade the window and curtain wall of the building along with upgrades to the radiant heat and VAV valves throughout the building. The project also includes ceiling tile replacement on the first and second floors with 2x2 grids along with LED light replacement and other energy efficient upgrades. A complete remodel of the entrance to the building is included in the scope of the work. Work begins late May of 2024 and is projected to be completed by January 31, 2025.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing all phases of the construction project through completion.
- Coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution.
- Monitoring project progress, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations and safety standards.
- Managing project budget and expenditures, optimizing costs without compromising quality.
- Facilitating effective communication among project stakeholders.
- Documenting project milestones, reports, and any relevant information.
- Attend weekly project meetings and weekly County Board of Supervisors meetings to provide updates.
- Flexible hours; not expected to exceed an average of 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field is preferred or five years of project management experience. Relevant certifications or licenses are a plus.
- Proven experience in managing building construction projects, preferably in publicly owned projects.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and techniques.
- Excellent project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting and resource allocation.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Exceptional communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations and safety standards.
